I first came to Woodley in 1980 and apart from two brief spells away have lived here ever since, attending both Beechwood Primary School and Bulmershe School before joining one of the country’s leading joining one the country’s leading life and pension providers. While at this company I obtained professional qualifications and was the Banking and UK Treasury Manager prior to leaving them in 2007.

A number of years were subsequently spent working for The Football Association involved with developing women’s football which supplemented my football experience which included joining Woodley Town FC in 1987 and becoming the club’s chairman in recent years. I am currently the president of the Thames Valley Premier League.

I was appointment CEO of Woodley United FC Ltd in 2015 where previously I had played a significant role in the creation of the club that saw the amalgamation of long established clubs Woodley Town FC and Woodley Hammers FC with Woodley United Ladies FC designed to improve the football experience in the community by bring stakeholders such as the club, businesses, local education and local government together with a common goal.

I am married with my wife working in a local primary school while both my children were educated in Woodley and one lives in the Town.

The atmosphere,the buzz in the room and the amount of networking taking place was great to see and experience. From my own experience I know that you must have worked incredibly hard to deliver such an event but the feedback I am receiving from the night, is proving that all that work has been worth it.

Charlie has been with us since she left school and has learnt the business from the bottom up. Ruby also manages our accounts team making sure all invoices are issued on time after we process a job and also paid on time when we buy goods.

Megan Henderson has been taking care of our accounts for the last three years but is about to go off to University to study Psychology, after working with us for three years she will find that a breath of fresh air! She is handing over to Sophie Taylor who is looking forward to working with us at M-four Promotions and growing and developing in the role.

This is achieved through providing trained volunteers that offer 1-1 support, and training activity leaders in disability and inclusion.

In 2006 Judith Tinker set up M-four Promotions. After working in the promotional merchandise industry for 3 years, Judith was frustrated by the lack of care and customer service that seemed to be the norm in the industry and believed that she had the Customer Service background, from her years working in Financial Services, to actually make a difference. Coupled with a passion for stationery items – Promotional Merchandise is just stationery in disguise after all – Judith knew she had the key ingredients for setting up and running a successful business.
Based in Reading, M-four Promotions is an independent supplier of promotional merchandise and part of the biggest buying group in the UK. With a small but dedicated team of specialists; their aim is to make it easy for their customers to buy the right items at the right price, whatever the event or promotion. Judith believes that customer service is key and that it’s important to sample items as pictures on the internet can be very misleading.
Currently in their 10th year of business working with local businesses in the community, they strive to be the best they can be. Development of the team and growth of the business are key to being successful, M-four are still small enough to care whilst being big enough to make a difference.

In 2003, Claire Edmunds set up Clarify, a specialist business development company, offering a fundamentally different operating model for enterprise sales; one that delivers predictable pipeline and revenue but also creates long-term transformational change.

Through organic growth, Clarify now employs over 50 staff, has a global client base and an annual turnover of nearly £4m. In 2014 Claire was awarded ‘Woman of the Year’ (SME), which celebrates women who have achieved significant results and excellence in their field. In June 2015 Claire was recognised by Real Business Magazine and the CBI as ‘First Woman of Business Services’ at the national First Women in Business awards which celebrate the contribution made by female business leaders across the UK.

In 2011 Claire founded registered charity, ‘The Clarify Foundation’ which supports local charities and raises funds for school projects in Africa.

Grainne Ridge is a co-owner of Business Fit Club, a Thames Valley training and business coaching company. After a corporate career at KPMG and Mars Confectionery Grainne ran her own sales training consultancy before joining forces with Business Fit Club in 2009. Never wishing to be pigeon-holed, Grainne has been an accountant, has forecast sales for millions of boxes of Celebrations in the UK, managed the shipment of tonnes of Galaxy Chocolate to the Middle East, run sales training courses for her clients in Europe and the Far East with delegates from more than 15 countries, facilitated team and strategy sessions for FMCG companies and for charities and written 3 books – Time Management, Handling Difficult Customers and Training Skills. Phew! Now she focuses on clarity and strengths – helping businesses find their distinct strengths and magic and turning them into a commercial reality through coaching, training and facilitation.

Business Fit Club was borne out of the desire to improve the notoriously low success rate of small businesses. Mary Carter and John Basinger, who founded the business in 2008, developed the group coaching formula to make business coaching affordable and accessible to many who previously thought it was only for the big hitters. Grainne brought business skills training and facilitation into the mix – and, with these services, the scope to help bigger businesses.
